1) What is the alloy Ω101?
Alloy Ω101 is one kind of special alloy with lower melting point but with high hardness and
high wear-resistance, these two characteristics are very suitable for casting an alloy layer
on the surface of a barrel bore, which can prolong the service life of extruders and injection
molding machines to a great extent. After standard centrifugal casting way, alloy Ω101 would
be one kind of iron-base with high borides and more kinds of carbides, its metallurgical
structure should be the martensite white iron. It’s hardness will be HRC 58~64.
It is the same as X-102 alloy of XALOY company in USA.

After centrifugal casting, alloy Ω101 is a hypoeutectic structure, like below:
2) Why we have to use the alloy Ω101?
You see, regard to extruders or injection molding machines, for the barrel and screw, there
are two kinds of main wear cases, one is Contact Wear(Or be called as the Matching Wear)
, another is the Cutting Wear. Because the screw is installed in the barrel inner hole in a
cantilever way, screw thread surface is rubbing barrel inner wall badly, the faster the speed
, the greater the rub. For this contact wear, if same kind of material to be used for making
barrel and screw, the contact wear ratio is worst. Numerous experimental and practical in
the past thirty years proof that compare with other alloy, the martensite white iron has a
least matching wear performance, for example to the nitrided screw or the high speed steel
screw. Then we found the Ù101 alloy that year. From below picture you can learn this
